MMM Catalog “CASE-OVER”
“CASE-OVER’ is a fun word to combine the techniques of CASE’ing the catalog and a MakeOver all in one go. Really, I shouldn’t call this a Mailbox Makeover Monday project but I’m working with this suite of products this week for A Crafters Collaboration highlight suite of the month!
The card on page 164 gave me a ‘hey, wonder what that would look like in another color’ so today’s makeover is the card upper right of the page and get a color change! It’s a bright card using Bermuda Bay as a base cardstock color with white embossing along with green and white as accents. Let’s change it up!
I made two variations of this card. I loved what the Stampin’Up! artist did with the touch of vellum on the banner end die cuts. I wanted to recreate that touch of white with some ribbon yet trying to keep ribbon from becoming ‘froo-froo” on a masculine card.
Click the above photo to take you over to another masculine card idea that could become a Fathers Day card easily!
Versamark Ink and White Embossing powder take center stage with this compass rose stamp. I repeated the stamping pattern to create a background on the Night of Navy cardstock base.
New to heat embossing?
Here’s a quick how to:
- Ink your stamp in Versamark ink.
- Stamp all the images you want to heat emboss – as on this card I repeated all the compass rose stamps on the card front at one time.
- Grab a scrap piece of copy paper – place your card on it.
- Shake your preferred color of Embossing Powder all over the image (be generous!)
- Now gently shake off the excess Embossing Powder onto the copy paper.
- Use a small soft dry paint brush to brush off the excess powder onto the copy paper
- Pick up sides of copy paper and pour powder back into jar.
- Use the heat tool to melt the powder.
Tip: I like to allow the heat tool to warm up facing away from my project- then point the tool at the underside of the images then facing the images to get nice even melting of the product.
This card came together really quickly even with the embossing!
Are you new to heat embossing? It’s a really fun technique- ask me about it!
In Color Matte Decorative Dots while not the perfect color green for this card- they take ink really well! Customize your embellishments with Stampin’ Blend Markers.
I think this is my favorite of the two.
I like the Mossy Meadow green accents in the ink and die cut shaped sentiment layers as well as the In Color Matte Dots customized to match with the dark Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blend marker.
Over at A Crafters Collaboration this month we are featuring this entire suite of products.
You can see our projects at our Facebook page and at Instagram. As well, we are collaborating on a first time subscriber tutorial! On the right side of the home page you can subscribe to my newsletter for this free tutorial that will go out on May 15th!
