Paper Pumpkin and Mailbox Makeover Meet Up
These two fun crafty blog posts become one! As I was working on this weeks Mailbox Monday Makeover, the thought occurred to me that it would be super as a kit alternative project. It’s serendipity that today’s Makeover fits so well with November Paper Pumpkin. It’s really not too far off the original – except that the cute tiny box bases that came with the kit are just too small for my gift.
So what’s a crafty gal to do? Make one bigger!
Lets get started!
This jar of honey was gifted to us by my husbands Mom and it’s unique in that the bees are raised beneath solar panels. I think that’s a brilliant use of space.
This was very good honey and it’s a very nice jar- perfect for a makeover!
The November Paper Pumpkin kit contents are alot of fun. I stamped the jar top label and glass label before I dug in to see what colors to use. Cherry Cobbler ink was sitting right on my desk so that is what I grabbed. I wish I had been more attentive before moving forward with this project- so you will note some color mismatch of the Honey Jar to the finished tote project.
I would have changed it but I used some good tape!
Tags, Stamps & Cello bag are from the November Paper Pumpkin Kit.
I made a big batch of Ranch Seasoning Blend to gift.
This is tasty and great to have on hand!
This popcorn is a real treat. We lucked into it at World Market.
Now it needs a cute tote!
I had hoped to use the cute November Treat Box Base and embellishment layers but the box base is too small for this jar & popcorn gift.
I recycled a lid from the 3 Wick Candle Box project. Click on the photo above to see that box project demonstrated on Facebook Live.
I had several extra layers leftover so decided to see if the lid portion would work and it does! This Template is labeled ‘LID’ because it was the lid for the 3 Wick Candle I mentioned above. It works perfectly to become the base for this project!
Adding the Christmas Tree layers from the November Paper Pumpkin Kit made for a quick and easy holiday festive project. It needed a handle, I thought it would be fun to mimic the shape of the tree. I used two strips of 1 1/4″ by 8 1/2″ long cardstock, attached to the bottom then folded up the sides of the box base. Then stapled them together at the top about 1/2 down from top edge then rolled the cardstock down. I secured those flaps down with glue to hide the rough staples.
The finishing touch when I’m ready to gift this will be to wrap the whole thing in cello wrap, add a red bow and a tag saying “From Our House to Yours”. I think this is a fun small neighborly kind of gift and when I make the next one, I will make sure to swap ink colors to Real Red ink! (oops:)
