Mailbox Monday Makeover Creates a Holiday Coin Bank!

#asmholidays2021 is in full swing here in the A Stampers Mailbox craft room!  I am having a ball making fun and easy holiday Makeovers for this series.  This one is another ‘for the kids’ I took this canister, gave it an ASM makeover and it is now a coin bank.

I needed a black write on wipe off board – this was found on Amazon.

Here’s a link to order one.

When I looked at the lid- I thought *light bulb* – I bet this will make a cute coin bank.

Cue the Mailbox Monday Makeover idea!

Simple supplies!

  • Designer Series Paper/ Patterned Paper of your choice: 8 1/2 x 9 1/8.

  • You could even stamp all over a sheet of copy paper this size with any themed stamps you might want to use!

  • Tear n Tape run around the bottom /top edge and along the length as shown in above photo.

  • Decorate as you like.

    •  I used Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper

    • Playful Alphabet Dies

    • Cherry Cobbler Twine (old Paper Pumpkin Kit)

  • Glue/Glue Dots/Favorite adhesive

Remove backing, line up patterned paper and wrap the canister

Add another strip of Tear n Tape to edge to complete the patterned paper cover.

For the coin slot top- I used the Label Me Fancy punch to create a paper template.

I took a scrap of cardstock – punched the ribbon slot portion of this punch – widening it until a quarter could slide through easily.

Now gather a Sharpie fine point marker, an Exacto Knife and a self healing cutting mat.

Trace your template on the removable top of the canister with a Sharpie.

Trim out with the Exacto Knife.  This won’t be perfect but it fits a quarter nicely!

I grabbed some previously fussy cut out stockings from the same paper pack: Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper.  I added the word BANK using all different colors.  Grab any scraps of colors you have on hand that coordinate with your patterned paper!  The letter dies are small so it doesn’t take much!

This fun bead box is perfect for keeping my alphabet letters separate and organized.

I found this on Amazon too!

Using glue dots and some twine, I made it look like the stockings are strung diagonally.  Really, it’s just strategic placement of glue dots.  I want this project to be pulled apart easily for remake non-holiday version for the gift recipient.  They can cover it to match their room!

This is a good size canister.

Looking at the finished project on my desk- ya know,

a Pringles container would be make a good coin bank makeover!
