Mailbox Monday Makeover

First Monday of the new year brings me back to the blog after a long Holiday Hiatus!  I’m ready to share some fun new stuff along with some crafty makeovers.   I love this Monday blog series because it takes previous projects and breathes ‘fresh life’ into them.

Today’s project is a simple way to take a mistake and make-it-over.

A Stampers Mailbox gets a new look!

Some new year tidbits before I share the project.  The ASM newsletter logo gets a refresh for 2023!  Are you a newsletter subscriber?   Lot’s of time to sign up!

If not- the first for the new year will be in email inboxes on Thursday January 5, 2023.  It will be chock full of Stampin’Up! news, A Stampers Mailbox 2023 Class Introduction and more!

If you are reading this post on a computer the sign up form is on the right margin.

On a mobile device from the home page – scroll to the bottom to sign up.

I send 2 to 3 email a month- that’s it!  I am a firm believer in minimizing what goes out – I feel like we end up with so much stuff in our email that it can land in the category of ‘too much’.

The first of the month is an ‘all news’ style newsletter, mid month I send out a Project Tutorial – NEW this year- each tutorial will have a full photo step by step version as well as a simple clickable PDF Printable with the above logo.  Towards the end of the month I send out an Events & Class Newsletter.

I look forward to you joining my email subscription!  I use a service called MailChimp – if you are anticipating your newsletter and don’t see it – check your promotions or spam/junk email and save my contact!  Then it won’t be lost!

Let’s get crafty!  This project was the last post over at A Crafters Collaboration for Dec. 2022 and I want to share it here too.  I think it’s a fun one and it’s also a sneak peek at one of the new stamp sets for the upcoming 2023 Mini Catalog release.

Monday Mailbox Makeover makes this card front into a gift tag!

Monday Mailbox Makeover

I shared this card last August on Facebook Live and here on the blog.  Click on the image above to hop over to the blog post to check out the card version of today’s project!  While doing that project I had a leftover card front that part of the bottom pieces of cardstock just didn’t look right – so it got tossed into the “I will do something with it eventually bin”  you know which one I’m referring- the one that ends up too full and not used often enough.  ya- that one!

Well, I grabbed it out when I came across this cute plastic mason jar cup.  Shout out to my pal Tanya- she passed along several boxes of crafty items she no longer wanted – this cup was in there- isn’t it fun!

It perfectly matches the fun Parakeet Party green cardstock used in this card front

so I knew I needed to make a tag for it.

Let's make a tag from a card front! Perfect Makeover

I used the Tailored Made Die Cut set for the base tag and went ahead to use the Mini Pocket Dies to really make the most of the card front layer.  The remaining pieces are saved for another project.

Cardstock Colors for today's project

New in the Mini Catalog: Taco Fiesta stamp set along with watercolor pencils & a blender pen.

Stamp Set: Taco Fiesta, Watercolor Pencils & Blender Pen

This is a fun project when you have a card front that doesn’t suit for a card but the majority of it fits perfect for die cutting and remaking into a gift tag.   I quickly stamped a scrap of regular Basic White cardstock with some of the smaller images from this stamp set, colored them with watercolor pencil and blended the pencil pigment out with a blender pen.  This works really well on small images and doesn’t require watercolor paper or water & a brush to quickly get vibrant color for your stamped images.

See that watermark in the upper right corner?  I mentioned this project was posted over at A Crafters Collaboration– if you are new to finding me here on the crafty internet- I am part of a fun team with fellow demonstrator Donna Goodwin – she and I share weekly inspiration on Facebook & Instagram.

Last month our theme was Gift Tags – this month we will resume our monthly live demonstration after the holiday hiatus.  Our theme for January is Slim Line Cards.

I thought it would be fun to share the gift tag project here especially since the slimline card front is perfect as a Mailbox Monday Makeover!

To complete the tag, I used paper snips to quickly cut out all the images, glued them down and added a simple greeting from the stamp set.  I love how this tag die leaves perfect stitch lines around the perimeter of the tag.   Topped with fun images it’s perfect for a quick gift for a pal!

I hope this quick & simple gift tag gives you some Monday Makeover Motivation to tackle something hanging out in your ‘will do something with later’ bin!

Happy 1st Monday of the new Year!

Inky Hugs,

Teresa
