FYI*F* Make it Match!
The inspiration for FYI*F* is a Make it Match! This fun Tri-Fold Journal needs a matching card set.
This project was the light bulb moment for today’s blog post!
This photo is rather a ‘post issue’ sneaky-peek.
This Free Tutorial landed in subscribers email inboxes on Tuesday evening. I’m only showing the cover here on the blog today- this exclusive tutorial is a Tri-Fold Journal that was a fun makeover idea gifted to me a couple of years ago by fellow demonstrator Donna G. of Winged Horse Designs.
She does such amazing paper crating that her project got an A Stampers Mailbox Tutorial Makeover!
If you would love to get exclusive tutorial projects once a month- there’s a subscribe sign up on the right hand side the home page! The tutorial is photo packed, full instructions & templates to guide to create your own project.
Now, Let’s make some matching cards for this!
Would you look at that! I forgot to add some bling… whoops!
These are a ‘work with what you have’ card base size:)
I had just this bit of Cinnamon Cider color cardstock left so thought- why not!?
Measurements:
-
Card base: 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 square; Cinnamon Cider & Pale Papaya
-
Layers: Stamped and cut close to images – Very Vanilla Cardstock
-
Designer Series Paper: Heart & Home cut close to image layers
-
Ribbon: Simple bow
No real measurements needed – I let the images and what cardstock I have dictate sizing! I know you all have remnants of favorite colors left over from previous projects! I love oddly sized cards! I will be posting next week an entire DIY Envelope blog article full of photos & templates. Check back with me:)
ok, onto today’s stamping process.
This card design really is a copy of the Tri-Fold Journal front panel. I kept the design simple, clean and allowed the shapes to really shine bringing the floral image at full focus!
I used the Stamparatus stamp positioning tool to stamp all the images.
This allows me to get it all done quickly and easily.
The Stamparatus by Stampin’Up!© is truly a crafters gem!
The unique ‘hinge-step’ design allows for easy & precise stamp placement.
Click on the above photo to see more about this product. The photo link will take you directly to the shopping page at Stampin’Up!©.
It’s great for repeat stamping – whether you didn’t get good ink coverage or just want to do like I did and repeat the stamping.
With the removable stamping plates, the Stamparatus allows you use both sides as you need to.
That’s alot of inky ‘real-estate’!
Time to color – keeping it simple with 3 colors. I used these dry as you would a regular colored pencil.
If you would like to see a blog post how-to using these in other ways! Click the photo below!
Having the stamp in the Stamparatus- I quickly stamped the inner layers without adding any more ink. This gave me a light/ghost image that will be easy to write over with a black journaling pen.
Add some lift with Stampin’ Dimensional adhesive foam, add a bit of custom colored ribbon and you are done! Here is a photo of the finished FYI*F Make it Match card set.
Bling remembered!
I used the Pearl Basic Jewels and the Bronze Stampin’ Blend Marker
to custom color them as I did the ribbon.
This lovely custom color ribbon is easily done with that alcohol marker and Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding. ( my very favorite ribbon of this catalog!) It takes color so well and dries amazingly fast!
Having multiple textures and layers on cards can be done quite
simply as I’ve done on this matching card set.
I will take some time later today and make some really nice envelopes but for now, I’ve jibber-jabbered quite enough about this project!
FYI*F* Make it Match is a wrap:)
Crafty fun, quick stamping and this gift is nearly ready for mailing!
