Coffee Stencil Series Part #2  Stenciled Tag for Bread Gift

Hobby Lobby Coffee Stencils

These stencils are so fun, the squirrel gets a turn today!

I’ve found myself posting about food lately, first chocolate chip cookies now homemade bread.  This style of bread gets a turn in the kitchen fairly often.  It’s simple, minimal hands-on-time for baking a delicious ‘artisan’ style loaf with zero kneading.  The only thing is- it’s not a quick start to finish… it does have a long wait time.

I typically put the rough dough together sometime in the afternoon the day before I want to bake.  For this loaf, I wanted to have it for Sunday breakfast so I started the dough around 3pm on Saturday then baked the next morning.  In my kitchen, I find the perfect rest time for this loaf is about 14 hours.  The plain – I can go up to 18 because I like it to resemble sourdough a bit.

On my personal Instagram account @tacmail1, I recently posted a photo of a Jalapeño Cheddar Loaf.

For this article,  I’ve made this into a lightly sweet round filled with cranberry & walnuts.  I love them all with no fav among these three.  Thinking Cinnamon Raisin will be next up soon.

I  wanted to use the stencil right before the bread went into oven but this bread is so full of lumps and bumps with the chunks of walnut & dried cranberry that the stencil direct to bread dough didn’t work out…

I tried to use cocoa powder – no ink used for the making of this edible:). Nope… so time to make a squirrel tag instead.  Using the outer shape of this stencil makes for an easy and cute rounded tag. Simple tracing and cutting.

It’s so cute it makes me wish I had purchased this set!

Now for the finishing touches.  I needed a rich brown ribbon but don’t have any current Stampin’Up! ribbon in brown so I made my own.  I grabbed the lightest color of Open Weave Ribbon in my bin which in this case is Polished Pink.  Then colored it with Dark Soft Suede Stampin’Blend Marker.  Make sure when you do this – have a bit of copy paper under your ribbon- it will bleed through but it works so great to take this ribbon and color it to coordinate with what you need.  Any alcohol marker works for this technique.

Craggy, bumpy, rustic goodness.  Cranberry Walnut !  This bread is loaded with good stuff!  Our kitchen smelled like a visit to the bakery.   It’s so easy!  Less than 10 minutes beginning and a few minutes hands-on time to get it ready for oven.  Time is really the only thing needed and it’s all time to get other things done while it does it’s own thing getting ready for deliciousness!
