Coffee Stencil Series Part 4

Hello Pumpkin Baby Onesie Card

Hello Pumpkin Onesie Baby Card A Stampers Mailbox Coffee Stencil Series

October & November babies deserve adorable cards!  ( ok, all babies do :). This card is inspired by a coffee chat with hubs.  We were talking about his recently deceased Dad.  He told me that Dad called his sister by the nickname ‘Pumpkin’ when they were kids.

I think this is a sweet memory and it inspired a sweet baby card.

If only this stencil were big enough, it would be a fun T-shirt for grown ups!

The above template is not to scale.

I printed at 60%

  • Choose your Cardstock:  Cut to size 4 1/4 x 11 Score at 5 1/2. I used Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock

  • Stencil or stamps

  • Print this pattern or create your own Onesie template.  I made this one at www.canva.com

  • Ink of your choice.  I used Bumblee and Cinnamon Cider.  Love this fall color combination with a hint of Pumpkin Pie from a watercolor pencil and blender pen.

  • Circle Dies or Circle Punch for the neck line.  I used a retired Stampin’Up! circle punch simply because it’s quick.  Scissors following the pattern of the template works too!

Stencil or stamp your sentiment on the front of the onesie pattern you’ve drawn.  I masked the center portion for Bumblebee ink then removed and repositioned the masking so that I achieved an ombre tonal look to the words.  As well, I didn’t add color to the stencil in all one pass.

First, mask off just the word Pumpkin.  This is a small area to stencil so I decided the ‘Hello’ needed to be moved to the right a bit for better alignment on the onesie pattern.

Using Blending Brushes I blended first BumbleBee Ink then Cinnamon Cider on the top and bottom portions of the words.

I lost the center of the ‘O’ here so I improvised! I grabbed my Detailed Trio Punch – on one of the stencils I had already used- I punched a ribbon hole out- that was a lucky perfect fit for this!  I used a tiny portion of a removable glue dot to hold it in place while I inked this!

I thought the word Pumpkin was a bit pale, I thought it needed a bit of orange.

Using the Pumpkin Pie Watercolor Pencil direct to the tip end of a Blender Pen to pick up some of the color then applied it to the stenciled word.

Sleeve Detail!  Using this awesome mask stencil from the Mini Catalog called Adorning Designs Decorative Masks.  I thought the scallops would be fun as an edge detail on this baby girl onesie card.

Did you note in one of the first photos on my cut out template?  I made a note that the template at 60% was too wide at the arm sleeves for a 4 1/4″ card.

Instead of changing cardstock size I chose to trim down the sleeves and round them by trimming with scissors.

Simply move the stencil around using some masking tape to cover what you don’t want ink on. I put the scallop detail on the neck line, arm sleeves and leg openings.

I then masked around 3 dots for the ‘snaps’ on the bottom of the onesie.

I kept this card Clean & Simple.  I think it will pair well as a sweet & simple welcome for a Autumn Baby or with a hole punched in it as a gift tag.

Keeping it single layer will make it super easy to mail.  No added postage needed!
