Friday’s Retake
Slim line cards are so fun to make and are one of my favorite styles. I especially like the overlapping gate fold look, let’s do a “MMM Retake”. Typically, I let more time go by before I jump in with a makeover but this was so fun that I thought , why not give it a crafty moment with the same products.
Well, mostly the same – I’m not going to use any Designer Series Paper!
Let’s see what comes off the crafty desk!
Here’s the Friday card for today’s MMM Retake adventure.
You can click on the photo to see that recent blog article.
I’m using the exact cardmakers template from Friday’s Overlapping Gate Fold Card in today’s Retake version. I’m only changing the base color, stamps and overlapping flap colors.

Tomorrow is the last day for Sale-A-Bration! This adorable owl set will no longer be available! Last chance! When you spend $50.00 this free stamp set can be yours!
Stamp your image on Shimmery White Cardstock.
I used Momento Tuxedo Black ink.
This paper is perfect for water techniques.
Quick watercoloring to make a cute birthday owl – I even painted her toes pink:) Your paper will want to curl a bit when wet- allow it to dry weighted down while you work on the card base & layers.
Changing it up a bit- this is a truly quick card and very unique. Keeping it simple with bright & bold colors. This Positively Pink is going to be retiring this year. Actually – sadly this is my last full sheet of this fun pink color – it’s been one of my favorites of the 2021-2023 In Colors.
Follow the template above for scoring instructions for your base card!
Instead of using Designer Series Paper for the flap extensions, I kept it simple and just used bright Basic White cardstock with some thin strips of Basic Black. Balanced the owl on a black mat and the “Hoot Hoot You’re So Cute” on more of the pink. This card comes together quick but it looks so hard! It’s Not!
Gently wrap the Basic Black belly band around the card, crease the edges, affix your stamped images and you are done!
Here’s the envelope template again for you! DIY envelopes are very easy! This envelope allows for extra room for this thicker card. You will want to go into the Post Office before mailing it as it is rather thick and will need extra postage. An adorable birthday girl is so worth a bit of extra postage!
Click above to view the project supplies! Sale-a-bration does end tomorrow – so if you come across this blog post after February 28, 2023 and love this card – any color of cardstock and any cute stamped image will make this style of card super cute!
Refer back to Friday February 17th blog post for another card just like this!
Thanks so much for joining me for a quick Mailbox Monday Makeover “Re-take” edition! Making card your own by using what you have is such a great way to stretch your supplies! So if you’ve missed out on Sale-A-Bration this year – Stampin’Up! has wonderful products in both catalogs and coming soon a March product release you will surely love!
Have an inky great week,
