Give the gift of Starbucks this holiday season
with an upscaled gift card present in a clear box!
Why not take it outside the card or envelope and make a cardstock or DSP ‘stand’ to go inside a see-through acetate box!
This allows unique shaped and very cute gift cards be a stand out for your holiday 2021 gift giving.
This is a super simple way to tuck those small gifts into stockings, teacher gifts or even door drops!
This project takes just a bit of scrap cardstock along with a 3 1/8″ x 3 1/8″ acetate box found in the Annual Stampin’Up! Catalog. some elements from the Whimsical Trees Bundle featured in the Mini Catalog, and a bit of ribbon/ twine.
This takes a Starbucks gift card go from an ‘oh that’s a super cute gift card” – to –
“oh, that’s a fantastic gift!’
Supplies:
-
Your favorite Starbucks Gift Cards – any size or shape you like! I got this Coffee Cup shape at my local Starbucks (it’s a minimum of $10 for this fun shape – just so you know)
-
3 1/8″ x <5 1/2″ {< = Cutting a smidge (1/32″) less than 5 1/2″) Cardstock for the stand – I used Shaded Spruce – it matches the Gift Card really well
-
Elements to decorate: I used Whimsical Trees Stamps & Dies Bundle
-
Ribbon, twine & die cuts to embellish
Instructions for Stand:
Score:
-
Long side on each end: 1 3/16″ rotate to other end score again at 1 3/16″
-
Short side 1 3/16″ & 1 15/16″. ( that last measure – I commonly call it – “one mark under 2” )
Slit for Gift Card:
-
Lay your gift card down on the stand center to middle- take a pencil and make tick marks on either side of card where you want it to stand up within this box frame. You will see a standard shape gift card used too – photo below:)
-
Line up the tick marks with in the cutting guide opening then line up the cutting blade between those tick marks. Make visual note where to start/stop your cut line. Then minutely slide your cardstock left cut again then right and cut again. This will slightly open the slit for the card to neatly slide into without causing the cardstock to appear buckled.
Cut as shown on template above. What I did was cut on the score lines as shown then shorten the corner tabs. No specific measure- they just need to be able to tuck in on the ends nicely.
Some shapes just have what I call ‘messy measures’.
With these Acetate Card Boxes being a 3 1/8″ square it makes the inner measure a bit messy.
I keep a ruler guide like this on my desktop as a screenshot. I thought I would share it with you.
No need to glue the stand – tucking it inside the acetate box will hold the tabs in place.
(love that- a no glue box!!)
